EMEDO promotes the fair distribution of advantages and disadvantages within a society, regardless of background and status.
With dedicated, competent and hardworking team EMEDO is committed to strengthen communities' capacities in fighting poverty. We do that through Training, Research, Policy Analysis, Lobbying and Advocacy, Awareness Creation, Information Sharing, Institutional Linkages, Resource mobilization, Partnership and Networking.

EMEDO’s goal is to ensure that the contribution of natural resources to the national economic growth, poverty reduction and peoples’ livelihoods is improved on a sustainable basis through more democratic, open and transparent governance that benefits the communities.
The Lake Victoria Drowning Prevention Project which is aimed at improving water safety among small-scale communities on Lake Victoria and eradicate a series of large-scale tragedies in its waters. The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) partnered with EMEDO to respond to the challenges faced by those working around Lake Victoria.
On July 25, 2024, EMEDO, in collaboration with the Disaster Management Department from the Prime Minister’s Office for Policy, Parliament, and Coordination, the National Drowning Prevention Network (NDPN), WHO, Kinondoni Municipality, Kawe Ward Government, BMU Kawe, fishers, and residents of Kawe Ward in Dar es Salaam, commemorated World Drowning Prevention Day at Kawe Beach. This global event, first declared by the UN in 2021, raises awareness about the alarming number of drownings worldwide and promotes life-saving measures. The Guest of Honor at the event was the Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office for Policy, Parliament, and Coordination, Hon. Ummy Hamis Nderiananga.
